Tags¶
Tags let you label messages with custom colors for flexible organization. Unlike folders, a message can have multiple tags at once and stays in its original folder — tags are overlaid on top of your existing folder structure.
Creating a Tag¶
- Right-click any message in the message list.
- Hover over Tags in the context menu.
- Click New Tag.
- Enter a name, pick a color, and click Create.
The tag is created and immediately applied to the message you right-clicked.
You can also manage tags from the mail toolbar using the Tags button.
Applying Tags to Messages¶
Via right-click:
- Right-click a message (or a selection of messages).
- Hover over Tags.
- Click any existing tag to apply it. A checkmark appears next to tags already applied.
Via keyboard: Select a message and use the Tags button in the toolbar.
Removing a Tag¶
Right-click the message → Tags → click the tag name again (to uncheck it), or choose Remove All Tags to clear all tags at once.
Tag Indicators in the Message List¶
Tags are shown as small colored diamond/rotated-square icons to the right of each message row:
- One tag — a single icon with the tag color and a tooltip showing the tag name on hover.
- Multiple tags — a layered two-icon stack with a combined tooltip listing all tag names.
Filtering by Tag¶
The Tags section in the folder pane (below your mail folders) lists all your tags. Click a tag name to filter the message list to only messages with that tag, regardless of which folder they're in.
This is the easiest way to find all messages you've tagged "Follow up," "Receipt," or any other label.
Managing Tags¶
Renaming a Tag¶
Click the Tags button in the mail toolbar → Manage Tags, then click the tag name to rename it.
Changing a Tag's Color¶
Open tag management from the toolbar and change the color picker.
Deleting a Tag¶
Delete a tag from the tag management panel. Deleting a tag removes it from all messages — the messages themselves are not affected.
