People & Contacts¶
Click the People icon in the navigation rail to open the Contacts module.
Contact Books¶
Vantage organizes contacts into books. Every account has two system books that cannot be deleted:
| Book | Description |
|---|---|
| Contacts | Your personal address book for contacts you add manually |
| Emailed Contacts | Automatically populated when you send email to someone new |
You can also create additional books to organize contacts by project, team, or any other category.
Creating a Contact Book¶
Right-click in the left pane (or use the + button) and choose New contact book. Give it a name and optionally pick a color.
Contact Book Options (Right-click)¶
- Rename — change the book's name
- Change Color — update the color shown in the pane
- Delete — delete the book and all its contacts (cannot be undone)
- Include in autocomplete / Exclude from autocomplete — controls whether contacts in this book appear in the To/Cc/Bcc autocomplete when composing messages
Global Address List¶
At the top of the left pane is the Global Address List (GAL), which contains every active mailbox and distribution list in your organization. This is read-only — you cannot add or edit GAL entries directly. Click the GAL to browse and search your organization's directory.
Browsing Contacts¶
Click any contact book to see its contacts in the center pane. Click a contact to see their details in the right pane.
You can search contacts within the selected book using the search box above the list.
Adding a Contact¶
- Select the contact book you want to add to.
- Click the + New Contact button.
- Fill in the contact's name, email address, phone number, company, and any other details.
- Click Save.
Editing a Contact¶
Click a contact in the list to open their detail view, then click Edit. Make your changes and click Save.
Moving and Copying Contacts¶
Select one or more contacts and right-click for options to Move to or Copy to another contact book. Moving removes the contact from the original book; copying keeps it in both.
Importing Contacts (VCF)¶
You can import contacts from a .vcf (vCard) file:
- Open the contact book you want to import into.
- Drag and drop a
.vcffile onto the contact list, or use the import option in the book menu.
VCF files from most email clients and phones are supported. A single .vcf file can contain multiple contacts.
Emailed Contacts¶
When you send a message to an email address for the first time, Vantage automatically adds them to your Emailed Contacts book. These contacts power address autocomplete — so the more you email someone, the more reliably they appear in suggestions.
To stop a contact from appearing in autocomplete, either: - Delete them from Emailed Contacts, or - Right-click the Emailed Contacts book → Exclude from autocomplete
CardDAV Sync¶
Vantage supports CardDAV, so you can sync your contacts with your phone or desktop:
- iOS / macOS Contacts
- Android via DAVx⁵
- Any CardDAV-compatible client
Use your full email address and an app password (not your main password) to authenticate. Create an app password in Settings → App Passwords.
CardDAV URL format: https://api.yourdomain.com/dav/card/yourname@yourdomain.com/
Changes made on your phone sync back to Vantage and appear in the webmail People module immediately.
Distribution Lists¶
If you own one or more distribution lists (group email aliases managed in Tenant Admin), they appear in a Distribution Lists section in the left pane. You can view and manage member lists for your own DLs directly from here. See Distribution Lists for details.
